My Profile, Job Notification Preferences, Sign up page |
Enhancement |
Candidates can add, verify their phone number and turn on text messages from My Profile |
Adding a phone number: Candidates can now select a country code when entering a phone number on the Sign Up / Link Account page, My Profile, and Job Notification Preferences. They can choose USA (+1), which is selected by default, or Other. Phone verification and text message (SMS) job alerts are only available for USA (+1) numbers. If a candidate selects Other, those options are hidden. Phone numbers already on file default to USA (+1), so existing candidates keep their verification and Text settings. Also, an active verification code's countdown no longer resets when a candidate refreshes the page, goes to another page, or switches country codes. Verifying a phone number: The candidate enters a valid number and clicks Generate Verification Code. SchoolSpring texts a code, and the number is locked while the code is pending. A 60-second countdown displays before the candidate can request a new code. Requesting a new code cancels any earlier ones. A daily limit applies to the number of codes a candidate can request. Once verified, the number displays a ✓ Verified badge and cannot be edited directly. Error handling:
Turning text messages on/off:
Changing a phone number: Changing the number resets its status to unverified and turns off text messages. No messages are sent to the previous number. The candidate must verify the new number to opt in again. Verifying later: Phone verification is optional when saving a profile. If a candidate leaves or refreshes the page, the phone field state is preserved, and the verification reminder remains visible until completed. SchoolSpring now automatically manages text message consent when candidates reply with standard carrier opt-out or opt-in keywords. SchoolSpring updates the candidate's consent status automatically, so its records match the candidate's choice. What's included:
Impact on existing users: No negative impact. Candidates who reply with standard keywords now have their consent status updated in SchoolSpring automatically. Job Board, District Job Board, and Consortium Job Board are all supported. |

Applicants can save ZIP codes pasted with extra spaces |
Previously, ZIP or postal code pasted with a space at the start or end into their Contact Details on the Job Board could not be saved. Clicking Save did nothing, and no error message appeared. Now, spaces at the start or end of the current and permanent ZIP/postal codes are removed automatically, and the corrected value saves. If the mailing address is set to match the current address, both codes save with the same cleaned-up value. Invalid ZIP codes still show a field error so the applicant can fix them. Cover letter character limit now enforced for saved cover letters on the Job Board |
Applicants could previously move forward and submit a job application even when the cover letter saved in their profile was longer than 5,000 characters. The limit was checked only while the applicant was typing, so older saved cover letters over the limit skipped the check. Now the SchoolSpring Job Board checks the 5,000-character limit whenever an applicant clicks Save and Continue or submits the application, including cover letters loaded from their profile. If a cover letter is too long, the applicant sees: "Cover Letter exceeds maximum length of 5000 characters." They need to shorten it before they can continue or submit. Cover letters of exactly 5,000 characters or fewer are accepted and submitted as usual. |

Register and Sign In links on the Job Board Site Map now open the correct page |
On the SchoolSpring Job Board Site Map, clicking Register or Sign In under Candidate Information opened a "page not found" (404) error. Now both links open the Job Board's account sign-in page, so applicants can sign in or register from the Site Map. |
