Updates to password handling in Staff Profile |
To improve account security and reduce the risk of administrators knowing user passwords, password handling in the Staff Profile has been updated. The Password field has been changed to Temporary Password and is now optional when creating or editing a user. If an administrator sets a temporary password, the user will be required to change it at first login, and the temporary password will expire after 24 hours. If no temporary password is entered, users will continue to set or reset their password through the Logging in for the first time / Forgot password flow on the login page. The previous “User must change password at first login” checkbox has been removed, as this behavior is now enforced by default. As a best practice, users should set or reset their own passwords through the login page. Admin-set temporary passwords should be used only in exceptional cases where needed for onboarding or access assistance. |
