Additional Notes on Ext_id

In cases where the same TemplateCode is assigned multiple times for an EmployeeID, you will need to use the Ext_id column. This overwrites the primary key of the file, which is usually EmployeeID+TemplateCode. From the 2018.06 release onwards, the importer will automatically designate the Ext_id column (if used) as the primary key for the file.

Once credentials are loaded into the system, consider the desired behavior the next time a file is imported. Should the import update what is in the system or add to the credentials that exist?

Assuming Ext_id is used and provided, and you would like to update what is in the system:
- The Ext_id must be tracked and stored so the ID or primary key can be used again to update the records, or:
- If storing the Ext_id provides a technical issue, you can run a nightly job to purge all credential data, but full files will be required each time.
To add to existing credentials, increment the Ext_id in a way that ensures the system treats the records as unique.
