PD Playlists Overview
PD playlists are utilized to group courses for a common purpose, such as beginning-of-year compliance training, credentialing pathways, performance plans, and more. Courses within a playlist can be marked as required or elective, and additional credit can be awarded beyond standard course credit for completing a playlist.
PD playlists also offer additional features within Professional Learning, including the ability to schedule notifications for users when courses are added, when they are completed, and when they are nearing the end date, as well as tracking users’ progress toward completing all courses.
User Roles
Moderator: The PD Playlist Moderator has full access to create and edit PD Playlists. They can assign a Manager(s) to a PD Playlist.
Manager: The PD Playlist Manager can add or remove participants from a PD Playlist. They can only access PD Playlists they have been added to by a Moderator or Office Super User.
Credit Approver: The PD Playlist Credit Approver role approves the credit earned above and beyond course credit for completing a PD Playlist. This is an optional role that many districts do not use.
Assigning Permissions
At a baseline, Office Super Users are granted the role of Moderator over PD Playlists. Other office-based roles (Office Admin, Course Creator, Course Approver) can be assigned as Moderators over PD Playlists within the global Office-Based Roles Permissions.
Navigate to Professional Learning > Configuration > Roles & Permissions.
Find the Activity Can manage PD Playlists.
Enable this permission for other office-based roles as needed.
Other users who are not assigned an office-based role can be individually assigned the role of Moderator for PD Playlists.
Navigate to Professional Learning > Configuration > Roles & Permissions.
Select the PD Playlist tab.
Click Add Users.
Click Add Moderator.
Search for and add specific users as needed.
Individual users can also be assigned the role of Credit Approver by following similar steps:
Navigate to Professional Learning > Configuration > Roles & Permissions.
Select the PD Playlist tab.
Click Add Users.
Click Add Credit Approver.
Search for and add specific users as needed.
Once a Moderator creates a playlist, Managers are assigned directly to the individual playlist.
Navigate to the Details tab of the individual Playlist.
Scroll down to Participant Manager(s).
Click Add.
