Security Enhancements

With release 20.7.0.0, changes to user registration and login were made to increase security and further protect PII in SmartFind Express.

Login Changes

The most notable change is the replacement of PIN with password when users access the tool via web or mobile.

  • Web Application – Users will move from Access ID/PIN to Access ID/Password for logging in.
  • Phone Application – Users will continue to use their Access ID/PIN to log into the IVR.
  • Mobile Application – Users will move from Access ID/PIN to Access ID/Password for logging in.


Districts using LDAP or SSO login methods will see no changes.

Registration Process Changes

This transition will be seamless for operators and administrators.

Users will create their own password as a new step in the login process (see flowchart). They will maintain their own password via the Forgot Password link; all resets of passwords can be done by the user with this link.

PINs can be changed by the user via their profile once the user has logged in using a password.
