Candidate Pool
This feature is used to conduct a candidate search and proactively invite qualified candidates to apply to your jobs or save them for later consideration.
Candidate Search
To conduct a candidate search, click the Candidate Pool tab on the SchoolSpring banner or the Home page.
Basic Search
The basic search feature is available only if you have at least one job posting in the Posted status.
Select a job posting from the drop-down menu. You also have the option to select and Show only certified candidates in the search results.
Click Find Candidates! for the system to search for matching candidates.
Advanced Search
The advanced search feature is on the Candidate Search page after the Basic Search pane. You must provide as much or as little information as you like. If a field does not apply, leave it blank, which will broaden your search.
Review and select the advanced search fields: Must Be Available By…, Job Type, Grade Range(s), Job Categories, Registered Consortium, and Additional Options.
Click Find Candidates! for the system to search for matching candidates.
Quick Search
To search for a candidate, you know is in the SchoolSpring database:
Enter the last name of the candidate in the Quick Search pane of the Candidate Search page. Last Name field is not a required field. It is, however a very useful way to search for specific candidates in the database.
Click Search for the system to search for matching candidates.
Candidate Search Results
The Candidate Search Results page lists the basic (name, residence, and degree) information for all candidates that matched your search criteria.
Note: If the candidate made their account as Public, their last name, first name will be listed as a text link. If a candidate kept their account as Private, a text link with the word Anonymous will be listed in place of their name.
You can sort the list of candidates by clicking on the Name, Residence, or Degree column headers.
You can also determine how many candidates to show per page; the system defaults to 10 per page. In the Candidate Search Results pane, select the Per page drop-down menu to set 10, 25, 50, or 100 candidates to show on one page.
Small colored (Purple, Blue, and Green) circular indicators may appear to the next to each listed candidate on the search results list. If you mouse over the indicators, a descriptive text appears.
Purple circular indicator means you Saved this candidate.
Blue circular indicator means that someone in your district/location Invited this candidate to apply to a job posting.
Green circular indicator means that this candidate Applied to a job posting in your district; they could be a current or past applicant.
You can start a new search by clicking Candidate Search.
Or click Saved Candidates to view candidates you have saved.
Search Criteria
This pane shows the selected search criteria that resulted for the Candidate Search Results list.
Change Criteria
This link returns to the Candidate Search page to change or update the search criteria.
Candidate Profile
You can view a candidate’s profile by clicking the candidate’s name in the Name column of the Candidate Search Results page.
The Contact Information (Candidate ID, Name, Other/Birth Name(s), Current Status, Current Address, Phone, Email, and Web Site) and Career Information (Highest Degree, Credits Beyond Degree, Date Available to Start, and Eligible to work in US without sponsorship?) are shown in the Profile pane.
Candidate Components
There are ten Candidate Components. You can move to each section using the Candidate Components menu or the Next Section and Previous Section buttons on the Profile pane. Only the History component is unique to the candidate pool search.
Profile: lists contact information, career information, and authorization statement of the applicant.
History: shows a candidate’s complete history with any job postings (past or present) within a district. If a candidate has no history, the message, “No applications or job invitations found” will be shown.
Background: shows answers to background questions. “Yes” answers and explanations will be in red.
Note: If you are an employer in the state of Massachusetts, you will not see this page, due to CORI laws.Resume: contains multiple sections that candidates add, including Education, Experience, Career Objective, and additional information.
Transcripts: shows transcripts input by the candidates. Transcripts can either be verified or unverified. Verified indicates the sealed official transcript has been sent to SchoolSpring and verified for its authenticity, then locked the transcript against further edits.
Tests: lists the tests, date of exam, score, and (if provided) uploaded copy of the results.
References: provides the names and contact information of the candidate’s references. If the reference has written a letter, that will appear as well. If the posting also required an additional reference evaluation form be completed, that form will appear in the last column.
Certifications: lists the title, state, date of expiration, license number, and a copy of the certification (if it has been provided).
Language Skills: lists languages and fluency level for speaking, reading, and writing, as chosen by the candidate.
Extracurricular: lists teams, activities, clubs, and so on that the candidate can select to show their interest/ability to lead or supervise.
Attachments: lists the attachments uploaded by the candidate and employer in separate panes. The Candidate Attachments pane holds documents uploaded by the candidate, including those that may be linked to from other sections of the application. The Employer Attachments pane holds documents uploaded by users within the employer account. They are not visible to candidates.
Save Candidate
To save a candidate:
Click the candidate’s name in the Name column on the Candidate Search Results page.
Click Save Candidate in Candidate Components on the Candidate Profile page.
Invite Candidate
To invite a candidate for a suitable job posting:
Click the candidate’s name in the Name column on the Candidate Search Results page.
Click Invite Candidate in Candidate Components on the Candidate Profile page.
Select the suitable job posting from the Job Posting drop-down menu in the Invitation dialog window.
Note: You can include an optional message that will be sent with the email invitation.Click Send Invitation.
