Approve a Course
All courses and sections must be reviewed and approved individually. The recommended best practice is to review and approve the course first, then its sections.
- Choose Professional Learning from the main menu.
- Click Approvals then My Pending Approvals.
- Click on a course or section name to review it.
- When finished with your review, click Needs Revision or Approved.
- Enter Comments for the course creator as needed.
- Click Submit.

Task
I can submit my courses and sections for approval and release to the course catalog.
Testing the Course and/or Section Approval Workflow process will help ensure you have the needed steps, approvers, and notifications configured to your liking.
The following tasks are required only if your district has enabled Course and/or Section Approval Workflows.
Task 1: Build a new Course and Section to submit for Approval
Go to Professional Learning > Build.
Select Build Course/Section and select the course type. Select Continue.
Enter a Course Title and select the appropriate Office. Select Create.
Complete the Course Details form. Select Next.
Update the remaining Course tabs as needed and Select Next on each tab until you reach the Section(s) tab.
If building an Instructor-Led Course, select Add Section. Enter a Section Title and select Add Section.
If building a Self-Paced Course, one untitled section is auto-generated. Click on the “Untitled Section” title to open the section.
Complete the Section Details form.
Select the Class Time(s) tab and assign a start/end date and/or class times.
Click “Submit Section” in the bottom right.
Navigate back to Manage > Manage Courses. Open the course just created.
Click “Submit Course” in the bottom right.
Task 2: Approve the Course
Assume the identity of the user designated as a Course Approver for the Office of the course just built.
Navigate to Professional Learning > Approvals > My Pending Approvals.
Click on the course title requiring approval.
Select “Review Comments -->” in the top right of the screen.
Select “Approved” and enter Comments, if applicable.
Click Submit.
Task 3: Approve the Section (if applicable)
Assume the identity of the user designated as a Course Approver for the Office of the course just built.
Navigate to Professional Learning > Approvals > My Pending Approvals.
Click on the section title requiring approval.
Select “Approved” and enter Comments, if applicable.
Click Submit.
Build a new Course and Section (any course type)
Submit your Course and Section for Approval
If using course/section approval workflows, Approve your Course and Section
You are now ready to transfer credit requests.
