APIInnovationNew Feature: The New Employee Web Experience 

The New Employee Web Experience is part of the SFE 21.10 Release.

Enable the New Employee Web Experience:

  • Select the Profile Parameter Enable the New Employee Experience on individual profiles

  • Bulk enable the New Employee Experience for all employee users by navigating to Parameters - Employees. Select Enable New UI for all employees.

  • Use the P1 import for employee users and set field 38 to 'Y'.

Features on the New Employee Web experience:

  • List of Absences (recent ones to the top) shown on the home page after logging in.

  • Create Absence button on the home page, to submit the leave request.

  • Menu bar options to view the calendar, check Reason Balances, configure the list of Preferred Substitutes and, view the schedule. All these features are based on district configuration. The My Schedule option is a new web feature, which all employees can view.

  • Employees can use similar features as before to specify pre-arrange substitutes based on district settings.

  • Absence details can be viewed by clicking on the particular Absence. Details are not visible for Canceled Absences.

  • Employees can edit class instructions, files from the Absence details and also cancel the Absence, based on the date of the Absence and district settings.

  • Employees with multiple schedules in their profile can create multiple absences within the same Create Absence flow. In such a case, if employee selects a date which falls on more than one schedule, the employee sees more than one Absence form during Absence creation. Employees can skip Absence forms if they wish, during such a scenario.

  • District Communication is visible on the New Web from the bell icon, and Communication needing Acknowledgement display after logging in. If there are dates on the profile, the communication for those also display from the Bell Icon.

  • Online Help is accessible to Employee users from the question mark icon.

  • Personal Information can be viewed by clicking on the blue circle. For dual-role employees and substitute users, switch roles by clicking on Switch to other role option.

  • For Districts using the App Switcher that are enabled for employees, the button is available to seamlessly navigate to other PowerSchool applications.

  • Impersonation is supported on the new web, so Admins/Operators wanting to impersonate the employee will be navigated to the new web if the new web is enabled for the employee profile.

  • Itinerant Schedules are currently not supported and will be supported as part of a future release.

  • For districts using PowerSchool's Professional Learning application and having integration with SFE, the redirection for Absence creation will go to the legacy older web as part of the 21.10.0.0 release.

  • For Districts using Skyward-SFE integration, the redirection will keep happening on the legacy older web as part of the 21.10.0.0 release.

System ParametersImprovementNew Feature: 'Reason sub-allocation when using an allocation from another reason'

A new feature has been added ‘Reason sub-allocation when using an allocation from another reason’. This feature can be enabled from Parameters - General. Select Use Reason sub-allocation when using an allocation from another reason. Also, a correction has been done in SFE to ensure that reasons using an allocation from another reason hold the exact same configuration of reason units as the reason from which allocation is used. This takes effect without enabling the new feature.

When the feature is enabled:

  • The district can configure individual sub-allocation on reasons while also using an allocation from another reason.

  • The Reason Balance view changes to accommodate the sub-allocation value and reflects the balance in both sub-allocation of the reason and the allocation from the main reason.

  • The Employee Reason Balance report displays similar values.

  • Import format E2 has been modified to accommodate the sub-allocation field but works the same way without the field for Districts not using the sub-allocation feature.

  • While taking an absence, there should be balance in both the sub-allocation balance on the reason and the balance on the main reason.

Skyward-SFE Absence Creation Navigation Issue

There was an issue where the re-direct to SFE to complete the Absence creation was failing when the user created a leave request in Skyward. This issue has been fixed.

Mobile App Push Notifications on for Substitutes

Enhancement has been done to turn on the Mobile App Push Notifications for all substitutes using the mobile app.

An issue has been fixed where the search on General profile inquiry would not filter the results when the first/last name had an apostrophe.

Substitute New Web

The following minor changes have been made on the new substitute web:

  • ‘No Filter Applied’ displays when no filter is applied.

  • ‘No Job Available’ displays instead of ‘No Data Available’.

  • The details of Canceled Jobs will not be visible to the substitutes.

Export/ImportIssueJob Inquiry Report Not Printing All Data Fields

An issue has been fixed for the Job Inquiry export to Microsoft Excel where the last few fields were not printing. 

Job ShoppingIssueJob Search Error Message on the New Substitute Web

An issue has been fixed where an error message displayed on the substitute new web that the available jobs are restricted even after the user changes the date range. 

Absence ApprovalIssueAdmin Profiles Error

An issue has been fixed where Admin Profiles receive the HTTP Status 500 Internal Server Error when the Admin would click on jobs during the approval process to see the view the notes. 

SubstitutesIssueSubstitutes on Do Not Call List Received Calls

There was an issue where entering 12:00 AM as an end time on the Do Not Call settings would result in substitutes not being on Do Not Call. This issue has been fixed by not allowing 12:00 AM as an end time on the Do Not Call settings.

ProfilesIssueImpersonation Issue for Operators

Fixed an issue where Operators who did not have System Configuration Modify rights but had Impersonation rights were unable to impersonate Admins. They are now able to impersonate other profiles where they have access. 

ProfilesIssueIssue in Callback Number

An issue has been fixed where there was a validation issue on callback numbers starting with 1 and being 11 digits, on the callback verification window for the substitutes. The callback verification feature has also been turned off. 

ProfilesIssueSubstitutes Unable to Add Classification from Restricted List

An issue has been fixed where substitute users were unable to add Classifications to their profile from the restricted list of classification, from which they are allowed to add or remove.

Job ShoppingIssueVerified Status Not Reflecting on Substitute Assignments

Verified Status has been added to the new substitute web on the substitute assignment details so that substitutes can know if their jobs were verified. 

ProfilesIssueUnavailability Dates Issue

An issue has been fixed where the previously created unavailability dates not reflecting on the new substitute web.
